Threat level: yellow

Bill summary

Amends Illinois' Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to make it an unlawful practice to knowingly sell, give, or deliver an imitation firearm. "Imitation firearm" is defined as a device that duplicates or can reasonably be perceived as an actual firearm, air rifle, pellet gun, or B-B gun, unless it meets specified exceptions. If enacted as written, it would directly restrict the sale and transfer of airsoft and replica guns in Illinois. SB2123 was filed February 7, 2025 and referred to the Senate Assignments Committee the same day. It has had no hearing, amendment, or vote since, and the 2026 spring session ended without action on it. The bill remains technically pending until the 104th General Assembly ends in January 2027. Airsoft Coalition is monitoring for any movement or for similar language in other bills.
