Minnesota SF 4067 — Omnibus Firearms Bill
Threat level: green
Minnesota omnibus firearms bill. For airsoft, it would have dropped the principal's-written-permission exception for replica firearms and BB guns on school property and extended the school-property rule to High School League event venues; existing penalties would not change.
Bill summary
Omnibus firearms bill with many provisions, including changes to Minnesota's school-property weapons statute (such as new exceptions for school security staff and retired officers). It would not change the existing penalties for replica firearms and BB guns on school property, which are already law: using or brandishing one is a gross misdemeanor, and possessing one is a misdemeanor. The changes that matter for airsoft: it would remove the exception that allows BB guns or replica firearms on school property with the principal's written permission, and it would extend "school property" to buildings hosting Minnesota State High School League events where signs are posted. Minnesota's "replica firearm" definition covers airsoft guns. SF 4067 passed the Senate on May 4, 2026 but was not taken up by the House before the 94th Legislature adjourned in May 2026, so the bill died.
